hi guys

i need your help and opinions on my future audio setup for my desktop

i made a lot of research and i'm confused on some little things but i hope you could clear it out ..

these what i may buy:

as for Audio interface:

Focusrite Scarlett 2i4

Monitor speakers:

i will go to either Mackie CR4 or Presonus Eris E4.5

Headphone:

Momentum 2.0 wireless

Subwoofer:

Polk Audio PSW10

my questions are...

can Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 give me same or better result then DAC for headphones ? (if no then please give me other or better product that connect all this to one audio interface)

well i be able to hook up this subwoofer along with one of these monitor speakers? how?

give me your opinions on this setup and tell me if there are other alternative

would be really appreciated of your help

Yes, it has a DAC inside that will function just fine.

Definitely go with the Presonus rather than the Mackie because it offers more crossover control and will let you make a better match with your subwoofer.

The rest should be easy.  TRS to TRS from the Focusrite to the Presonus, RCA to RCA from the Focusrite to the subwoofer.  Try to set the roll off on both the sub and the Presonus to the same level so they overlap a bit.  Adjust to room/positioning/taste but I would fine tune gain at the sub rather than at the speakers.

I'm not sure why you want to spend that sort of money on bluetooth wireless headphones for desktop use though.

Display: XFX R9 390 DD, triple 1920x1200 24" HP monitors (5760x1200 @ 60Hz)   Sound: Audio-gd NFB-11 -> AKG K7XX or 2.1 speaker system

As long as you understand that you are paying hundreds of dollars just for the bluetooth (wireless) functionality, which in and of itself makes them entirely useless for monitoring your Focusrite.  Just my opinion but I think I would rather spend most of that money on a really good pair of headphones that will plug into the audio interface and the rest on a cheaper pair of portable, cordless ones for walking around.  :)

the dac/amp of the 2i4 is nothing special, actually it is crap compared to a proper (not high-end) dac/amp set up.

if you do not plan on having two stereos speakers running independently of this soundcard (audio interface) and/or hooking up any midi pads then I highly recommend getting the 2i2.

as for the subwoofer, it won't work with this set up.

last but not least, the monitors I got no experience with - just make sure you connect them via xlr or trs (balanced circuit) to avoid noise.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.
