Benq XL2420Z vs Benq XL2411Z

I'm trying to find a monitor that gives me more than 60hz and a 24inch. I was going to go with the 2411Z at first but they don't have the display port, and if i want to go over 60hz i heard i have to use the display port. What would you guys choose between those 2. If you have any suggestion i'm open. I have a budget of max 400$(Canadian) i would be playing BF4, Heroes of the Storm, Elder Scrolls Online most of the time. Wasn't sure between a 144hz or IPS but can't afford both for now.

I used the 2411Z and I got it up to 144hz with DVI-I. Also, if you would have to use a Display Port, simply get an adapter

I'm getting a gigabyte GTX 970 gaming 1 so I have the 3 different ports but is dvi and dvi-i de same I didn't know we could get better quality with dvi over hdmi?

before I had HDMI hooked up to my BenQ and VGA to DVI adapter for my Samsung. I then realized I couldn't hit 144h unless I use DVI. With HDMI plugged in, those settings (70hz 120hz 144hz) were all whited out and not selectable

Picture quality is identical, DVI and HDMI use the same signaling. Dual-Link DVI basically has two DVI/HDMI connections in one cable, so you can get double the bandwidth.

So the best would be to buy a dual dvi cable so you plug the single end to the GPU and the side with the 2 dvi goes on the monitor? Is that the best quality I could get unless I would go with a Display Port monitor?

There's a specific type of cable with the dual link built in, it's not literally 2 DVI connectors on one end. And again DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort are completely identical in picture quality. The only difference is data bandwidth, so depending on your settings (i.e. 4K 60Hz) you may have no option except DisplayPort. Otherwise, whichever connections are adequate for your resolution/refresh rate are all identical in picture.

Ok so if I go HDMI I will have the same result of image than dual dvi? I'm not going 4k so I'm good.

If you're a hardcore gamer or want the best stuff and play FPS games or other fast pace games you really want 120 hertz ++. I've played on a 4k monitor and it sucks for FPS games. 4k IMO is really good for movies, videos etc... If you got enough money buy both 4k monitor and a 120 + hertz monitor.

 

Me personally could never leave my ASUS 144 hertz monitor. Everything feels so smooth.

not sure which one u should get between ASUS VG248QE(379$), BenQ XL2420Z(429$,on special at 349$ now) and the BenQ XL2411Z(300$). Those are prices in Montreal Canada.

I live in Canada and I just checked on Newegg Canada and its 430$, and on Canadacomputers.com where I will buy all my stuff for my build its cheaper its 379$.

Always get the XL2420Z if you have to choose between that and the VG248QE.

 

Both panels suffer from reduced gamma point as you increase refresh rate, but the Benq has gamma OSD adjustments while the VG248 does NOT.

Just make sure it comes with VERSION 4 firmware, for access to a new AMA high setting which reduces the inverse ghosting if you enable it after turning on blur reduction!

(this does not exist in V2 firmware).  The only way to guarantee V4 is to either order it directly from Benq's shop and call them to make sure it ships with V4, or you have to flash the f/w yourself with a Ubuntu bootable USB flash disk

The stand button and the extra HDMI cable are the only difference. They use the same LED for all their panel, but change the stuff around it. I would go for the Xl2420Z.

I have an older version of the XL2420Z (The XL2420TE) and it works great, this being the upgraded version can only be even better.  So they have my vote, I hear good things about asus monitors too though.
