Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of buying all the parts I need for my rig and I've come across the same parts on a site called 'Gumtree' which is almost like ebay (I'm sure you are aware of what it is), and I've come across the same parts I need for a better price (normally around 50-70 dollars cheaper) and the only concern I have is those parts not having any warranty on them :\

What do you guys reckon/prefer ? Would you buy a USED part or would you save that little extra and buy it new ?? :) thanks

I prefer New because of warranty and I know what has been done with the part during my use.

Buying used u don't know how it had been used, what conditions and what is the real real reason for selling it and how much longer the part will last before dying (this doesn't apply to close trusted friends).

i would buy used cpu/gpu/ram/tower coolers (not aio/liquid etc) and cases, but not hard drives/ssds/motherboards

and to clarify i'd only ever buy used/refurbished from a retailer, not ebay or craigslist etc.

I'd buy used all day long. Just be sure that the seller allows returns. If they dont, I'd check Craigslist and see what is available.

I've bought used full systems, used storage, used mobo/cpu combos, used coolers, etc. The only things I'll buy new no matter what is fans and PSU's. Fans look much better new and clean and can really finish off a build. PSU's can kill the entire system so I'd get that new, too, unless it was almost unused.

Yes, he said he still has the original receipt and it will be included in the box

Why not refund it ? Isn't there like 7day refund policy ?

I wouldn't buy system critical parts like a psu or a motherboard (unless I needed one for an old cpu), but generally cpus and gpus as well as (of course) cases can be bought used pretty safely.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

NEW! I don't typically find used hardware or even general electronics worthy of anything.

after dealing with so many things, I prefer used.

just be smart buyer, ask for official warranty, ask for any errors/damage, ask for warranty from seller (usually from 3-7 days personal warranty)

and compare it with new price

things like processor usually sold at low price, and it's quite durable.

RAM, as long it's from known brand, u can get it at cheap price, and if it's dead someday you can always RMA it since most RAM comes with lifetime warranty.

Monitor, it's quite easy to get used monitor specially the lower size one.

GPU, just avoid mining card period.

Case, I see so many people getting new case for every time they've upgrade. I mean it just a box, you will never look at it when you busy staring monitor.

Power Supply, I usually avoid getting used psu, it just feel it's not worth to get worried, specially if it's no longer have warranty and cost only $5-10 cheaper than new one.

there you go, you might save 30-50% if you getting moderate gaming system compared buying new parts.

spend extra money for GAMES on Steam sale... it's so satisfying.
