A 280x will max it out.

However, a GTX 960 im not so sure.

I haven't got GTA 5, but its recommended specs is HD 7870, R9 280X is way better than HD 7870.

I've heard this game runs like crap on AMD.

benchmarks show the r9 290x is only about 10% slower than the gtx980

 

I would have thought that's about normal

sorry i don't have it but it seems like a good card. It has all the features of it's bigger brothers and even has 4gb of ram so it seems like on of the best option to me
