It's no different, tearing only depends on your framerate and monitor refresh frequency.

One question is screentearing more extrem or more annoying to the eye with widescreen/29:9 monitors?

Depends on your tearing. i tend to not have it at all and if you do, vsync >.>

but in general: tearing is tearing and tearing sucks.

most more or less affordable 29:9 monitors have only got 60hz.
