People have mixed opinions of them. Their coolers tend to be pretty, noisy and not very great at keeping the GPU at great temps. I wouldn't write it off though.

They're not a terrible brand but I would wait for a better brand sale (or wait for the 300 series and pick up a R9 370X or a lowered in price R9 280X)

My first choice is Sapphire because they only do Radeon cards, MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte are all trustworthy "Tech Giants"

Different PCPartPickers for different countries:

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Is XFX a good brand as well? their 280x is on sale for $209.99 ( http://bit.ly/1J3rPMm) its a lot cheaper than the other 280x's but if its not up to par with the other ones, i'll just get a different one.

I've had nothing but problems with XFX. Their coolers look nice but are some of the worst non-reference. The TurboDuo is worth the extra $10. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131570&cm_re=280x_dual-x-_-14-131-570-_-Product

I recently got an XFX R7 240 and it's no less than any other R7 240 out there. However once that fan gets going, it's going, and can be pretty noisy, even for a weak GPU like the 240. This can be many things, as just about everything in my system is overclocked to high hell, including that poor little graphics card, leaving internal temps around 75 degrees under load.

One brand to definitely checkout is HIS. Their cards usually have great coolers and they aren't well known. I can't say anything in the world of the R9 series of cards as those are way out of my price range. Usually HIS pimps out their cards. An example would be their R7 240, Sporting up to 2GB of GDDR5 and an enormous cooler, handling the most extreme overclocks of 1000Mhz+ at around 75 degrees.
I only got XFX because of their $20 rebate, not worth it.
