Hey so i'm currently looking at building a new PC and wanted to get some feedback. I have a pretty good idea of what I want but wanted to get some more opinions.

1. Budget & Location
So i'm planning on spending roughly 2000 $US on this build.

2. Aim
The main thing that i'm looking for this build is mostly for gaming but also a bit of casual 3D modeling and sound recording editing. Specifically gaming is the main focus, I want to be able to play games like Crysis 3 on highest or close to highest settings.

3. Monitors
I'm currently only going to run 1 monitor, however I'm planning on eventually being able to run 3 on it with a 4th accessory monitor. The 3 will all be 1080p.

4. Peripherals
I won't be needing peripherals for a little while also I won't be needing an OS as I already have a few to choose from. I do want to get some feedback on some future peripherals to possibly upgrade to in the future.

5. Why are you upgrading?
So i'm currently running a Dell Studio 1747 laptop, which isn't a bad laptop especially when I got it. However its very lacking when it comes to gaming as its a laptop and so the graphics card just isnt up to par. I've been wanting a much more powerful computer for a while and I want my next one to be something that will last me a little while so the ability to upgrade later on is a factor here.

Build:

ok so here is what i'm looking at building so far:

Case: Corsair Vengeance Series C70 Gunmetal Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (I really like the look of this one and while I could be convinced to go with another one this is my current preference)

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Graphics Card: EVGA 03G-P4-2781-KR GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I74770K

CPU Cooling: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Water Cooler

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B 750W BRONZE ATX12V/EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular PSU New 4th Gen ...

RAM: G.SKILL Value 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C11D-16GNT

Main HDD: SanDisk Ultra Plus SDSSDHP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) for Notebook

Storage HDD: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM

DVD Drive: LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - OEM

Also here are some things I already have that will be a part of this build:

Monitor: ASUS VS Series VS238H-P Black 23" 2ms HDMI LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 50,000,000:1

Keyboard: RAZER Anansi Black Wired Keyboard

Mouse: RAZER Salmosa (Looking to upgrade some time soon)

Headset: RAZER Carcharias (Looking to upgrade some time soonish)

One thing I have just started thinking about that I have not included is a sound card. Unfortunately I don't really know a ton about sound cards yet so I don't really know where to start so help there would be nice.

Finally, what are your guys thoughts on what OS to run. It's really between Win 7 and Win 8, i've run both and am very familiar with both but i'm still not really sure which to go with (don't factor this into the cost of the rig).

Thanks in advance for the replies!

looks like a solid build to me. two suggestions tho - since you said you wanna use it for casual editing you could save some money and get the 4670k instead of the 4770k. you could aslo get corsair vengeance pro ram they are only 10usd more than the g.skill value. as far as soundcards go you cant go wrong with an asus xonar the 'xonar DGX' is pretty good and not too expensive.

It is a solid build but i would downgrade the CPU from a 4770k to 4670k, i think you got a power supply with too much juice fot this build why don't you try this one ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 ) and since you are going to work with audio i would also downgrade a little bit with the motherboard in order to have money for a sound card (or myabe you already have saved up enough money to get the soundacard by cutting donw the CPU and PSU if you choose to do it)

The sabertooth has you overpaying for a hunk of plastic. Any ~$150 motherboard would do the job just as well.

Downngrade to a 4670k. No need for an i7 other than some hefty/serious editing/rendering.

Stay away from EVGA psus. Go for this instead: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750xxxb9

So I was looking around again today and was wondering what you guys thought of this power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139029

Its on sale until the 12th for $85 after rebate.

That's a good psu if you're going to sli 780's. It's a bit on the high side but extra headroom is never bad.

Yeah, corsair is a very reliable brand and its always good to have some room for expansion if your workload goes up you could easily put in a couple more hard drives and another 780. Good luck with your build!

CPU: AMD FX 8350 @4.7 Ghz  Cooler: Cooler master seidon 120m GPU: EVGA Gtx 660 SC Ram: Corsair 8Gb  Storage: 128 Smasung 840 ssd and 1 Tb wd blue. Case: Corsair Air 540

Getting so good looking stuff and ugly RAM is a sin, you should get something nicer if you waste money on Sabertooth. Also switch the HDD for Seagate Barracuda. I strongly advise getting a case with better fan mounts, with intake in front of HDD cages. Also replace the stock fans. GPU - You should consider a pair of 7970s. There is the Asus DCu II model for $290. I'd pair that with Maximus VI Hero for nice color scheme. Here is why you should get case with mounts on both sides of HDD cages. I have HAF XM, which I can recommend, here you have 200mm in the front, chanell that with 2 120mm fans on another side, 1 120mm exhaust and 2 120mm fans on the H100i in push, not sure but it might fit even push/pull. I recommend CM Sickleflows. Also if you went the XFire route, you would need a 850W PSU, I can recommend RM850 from Corsair.

My rig: CPU: Intel core i5 4670K MoBo: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 GPU: EVGA GTX780 SC ACX SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 256GBHDD: Western Digital RED 2TB PSU: FSP Aurum CM 750W Case: Cooler Master HAF XM OS: Windows 8 Pro
