Which GTX 980 to buy TODAY!

ApexTypeA
Howdy folks

I am just about to buy a GTX 980 to run it on my UHD Samsung 55 TV (HDMI 2.0 compatile). Asus just released their Platinum Matrix but is it worth the extra money? I overclock the card but I am not going to be cooling it with liquid nitrogen any time soon...

Which GTX 980 offers the best performance versus best overall value?

Any chance they'll release the rumored GTX 980 Ti (or whatever) within the next few weeks?

GTX 980 Ti at the earliest isn't expected until the end of this summer. The Platinum Matrix is a sexy card as all hell, but it's probably not worth the extra $100+ I presume it costs. The G1 GTX 980 is fantastic for overclocking.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Is it worth getting the Classified? How about the Gygabyte g1 Gaming?

I would suggest another 970 just because the GPU scaling isn't that bad and out performs a single 980.

If you are still going for a single 980, The Evga 980 FTW ACX 2.0 is a pretty solid option ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2986-KR) It has great reviews and great support.

It doesn't have a back plate, but yea. If you wanted one you can buy one from them and put one on yourself.

I'm kind of tempted by the Hybrid or Classified from Evga, but it's probably really worth it since I have a 970 already.

Personally im planning to grab a pair of the acx 2.0 superclocked later this year to pair with an asus swift and the 3d vision kit. I really dont think spending $50 extra or more for a marginal increase in performance is really worth it. The acx 2.0 superclocked looks like a superb choice imo.

Upgrading from gtx 970 to gtx 980 is not worth it unless u have problems with ur gtx 970. If you are happy with gtx 970 just get antoher one. If not wait for better ones.
