Air conditioner - Plug into a wall?

So I just put my PC into my room and holy **** it gets hot... My room gets to 85 F and it is killing me! Usually my room is ~65 F. Are there any air conditioners I can just plug into my wall or something? (A wall outlet I guess) I don't want to have to drill into anything. Something that can cool this from hell to a decent temp. Any ideas on what I can do.

Can't be louder than the death screeching in my PC right now. I looked at the websites but I didn't see anything.

I don't think a standalone ac unit would work since they have to dump heat somewhere using a duct of sorts. I would assume the best possible solution then would be a window unit.

But the outside air smells like ass....

You need a window mounted unit which needs outside air. 

 

They don't work like portable heater units which can be conveniently used anywhere (almost).

To your point, doesn't a window unit just intake the air that's already inside and cool it, and dump the hot air outside?

you can get a windows unit, or a floor unit. A floor unit still needs a window, and a hose to it

cools the condenser of the ac to produce cool air inside. the exterior air

has nothing to do with the internal air smells..

yes it circulates the air, cooling it, and dissipating the heat outside. But some I've seen have a lever or button to switch between circulate and fresh air, like your car does.

So the answer is really both, but it does depend on the unit. Sweet deal.

no but if you have one that pulls in air from the outside and it's just generally a damp, bad area outside (usually in the city) it can smell musty

OK cool. Well time to go look at prices... Spent all of my money on my PC... That now creates this problem Know any good brands?

I believe window units come with seals that go around the ac unit itself and latch into the window to keep the weather out. Either that our you have to buy the seal separately.

Using it whilst raining is safe and water will not penetrate.

whatever you do don't get one of those portable units that look like R2D2 with the duct to window pictured in an above post. they're way more expensive and way inefficient compared to a window unit.

yah they are basically only something I'd recommend for when you absolutely need them. Great for a basement for example
