@Enderman and others

If I take a computer I have (i5-2410m, 6gb ram, gt 525m) and devote it completely to my Minecraft server, will it run well?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

depends on a lot of things. depends on how many people will join, connection speeds, uplink/download speeds (if you're planning on running it over the internet), depends on plugins/mods. Other than that, if you are running a vanilla server, I think you could make good use of it. maybe upto 56 people, over a local server. If you have high speed internet you could max it out no problem.

Yeah sure. Make sure you test it with a server that is near where your furthest connecting player will be playing from.

You're best off doing it from the server PC cause it'll have the same local router speeds

Wut?! My parents control me strictly with grades and other stuff but they never go into my pc to look for some R rated games.

Track everything I do on the internet. Every web page, every download. And my PC is in a public space, so they watch what I do.

Sorry for the slow reply.

You can use THIS WEBSITE to calculate how many people can connect over your Internet connection.

Before you use it make sure you adjust for inflation and deflation of you down/up-load speeds, as they can't be static forever (e.i they will dip if you are uploading a youtube video or something).

So maybe, shave about 10-15% off both the upload and download speeds.

From what the website says, you can have a maximum of 24-26 players with your current connection speeds and RAM.
