I've been trying to build a computer for the last couple weeks and even though I've put together a few in Pc Part Picker, I'm still sure about them. Anyways on with the details i suppose.

1. Budget - $1500 is my max budget for my build and it needs to include Windows 8 and also a CD Drive. I don't mind if the build is also rebate heavy for

final price. If possible id like to be as low as possible without sacrificing performance.

2. Peripherals - I have a monitor, mouse and keyboard but they're not the best. If you can add it into the budget that would be cool but like i said above i don't want to sacrifice performance just so i could get better peripherals.

3. Location -. USA so currency is USD

4. Aim - This will only be used for gaming and also surfing the web. No programming or editing of any kind. Would like a setup that's upgrade-able in the future but strong enough to play Triple A games now at 1080P with 60FPS.

5. Random - I'm not against Overclocking my CPU but it's also something i don't want to rely on. Im sort of a Intel and Nvidia fan but i'm also open minded.

So here's what i had picked out.

If you don't like overclocking, then you could consider something like a Xeon E3-1231V3, basically like a lower clocked 4790 without an iGPU.

Desktop: i7-4790k, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Seagate Barracuda 3TB, 2xR9 290 Vapor-X's (1 working atm), Asus Z97-Pro, NZXT H440 White, 16GB G. Skill Sniper RAM, NZXT HALE V90 850W.

Laptop: Samsung Chromebook 11.6"

Phone: 8GB Galaxy S4

What keyboard, mouse, and monitor do you have? Anything you are looking at for those?

Its a 24 Inch dell monitor that was given to me, not sure about actual model of it or anything. Keyboard and mouse are just plain dell. I realize they're not the best but for the moment they would work. Id plan on getting a nice mechanical keyboard and a decent mouse.

Not so much i don't like it but i'm hesitant with it. The reason i picked the 4790K was so if i wanted to overclock in the future i would have that option.

Since you will just be gaming or less intensive tasks, go with the i5 4690k because the i7 might get 2-7 more fps in games. Cheaper MOBO since you aren't planning to OC but this still gives the option to do a little bit. 2 TB HDD for just a little more than the 1 TB you had because why not get more storage for that little amount more. This is where some eyebrows might get raised, SLI 970s...This will get you a good amount more performance and it isn't that much more expensive than 1 980. And then a good keyboard that takes the total $11 over. This is personally how I would go about this but it's your choice.

if you dont ever want to upgrade gpus go for his build

It's not so much to never upgrade them it's just to last longer and get more performance for close to the same price of a 980.

I had thought about 970 Sli but i feel the upgrade path from that is a bit limited. I do like your keyboard choice though. Actually my biggest problem deciding on a build was whether to get a i5 or an i7. Will the i5 be able to last me a while even if i put 2 980s in my build?

Yes, the i7 would only give you an edge if you were going to stream/render a lot.

More than enough for 1500$, i put a quite good for the money mouse, cause it's better to have a good mouse atm and add a mechanical keyboard later.
