so I oc my fx 6300 to 4.32ghz. know looking at hardware monitor and cpu-z i see the all my core are running 4320Mhz and the max value is 4230Mhz. the computer is on ide and its shows the cores are running max value. is that normal, should it not be lower and moving? also my my task manger won't give real time clock speeds, its just stuck on 4.28Ghz.

Can't recall which setting it is, or if it was mandatory or not but there's a setting when overclocking that forces the cpu to run at full frequency, regardless of workload. perhaps someone else can fill you in a little more.

You've most likely overclocked though the BIOS I'm assuming? Which I'm pretty sure is going to force a constant voltage and multiplier to reach the specific value. So I'm inclined to say that's normal. You could always check the minimum and maximum processor states under Control panel>System and Security>Power Options>Change plan settings>Change advanced power settings>Processor power management.

i think it was having a issue where one time in a stress test it would run like 2.07ghz at full load  when it was suppose to be at 4.32ghz, as soon i stop the test it it went back to full  frequency. what i did to fix that was i turned off apm mode.

its possible that it was thermal throttling the cpu back down. what are you using as a cpu cooler?
