78C is fine though I wouldn't recommend leaving it like that all day, every day. All day once or twice a week is perfectly safe and won't significantly impact the processor's lifespan.

Just keep in mind that any use at all, especially at high temperatures, does slowly reduce the lifespan of your processor, so getting a better cooling solution will help it last longer if you still feel a little nervous.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Thanks, I'm actually using the corsair h-110, but it still gets hot, (i like it quiet). I get around 28c at idle. then of course my oc'd 290 heats up my case so the fans pull hot air through the cpu's radiator.
