38C Idle with Hyper 212 Plus?

What CPU temps should I expect with a Phenom II 955 under a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus? The stock AMD cooler ran about 45C idle, the Hyper 212 is running 38C idle, I expected a bigger improvement. The NZXT Source 210 case temp is around 30C, with the motherboard reading 35C and the GTX 670 FTW reading 40C. I wonder if I applied a bit too much thermal paste, I had about 2 rice grains in the center of the CPU, and just used the weight of the cooler to spread the thermal paste. Could my case temps be a bit high? Or is the Phenom II 955 naturally a hot chip? It's running at a stock clock of 3.2GHz.

What are your load temps? Idle aren't really interesting. Around 40c for idle is okay no matter what cpu.

What's the ambient temperature? My Hyper 212+ runs 34C on idle with the ambient temperature being 26C, so your temps seem normal.

I haven't got the chance to test it under load, and it's an office system so I don't think it'll see much action. The GTX 670 is just there to test for problems. The ambient temps are probably around 30C. But since the front intake fans aren't running, I think it's probably closer to 35C. I guess it's all systems normal then?

Yeah it sounds fine. If you need some extra cooling setup a push-pull configuration. Get a fan like the one that came with your cooler.
