Two odds questions

Hey everyone,

 

As the title says I have two odds questions. 

1. Building my first pc and I will be getting the gpu last. I was wondering if it is ok or possible to use the i3 built in hd graphics until I get the gpu? Same as a laptop correct?

2. I will be using an ssd as a boot drive so I would install that first and intall an OS on that then install a hdd?

first is correct, 

 

second, you can put both in. when you go to install windows, it asks which one you want to install to.

do you have a budget for a gpu? we would be glad to help!

 

something I do is I always buy used. you can save loads of money that way

2. You can plug both in and select the SSD to install windows onto. However, many people unplug their secondary drive when installing new OS's as a precaution.

Been looking at 270x and 280. not sure what brand though...

Never considered used for pc parts yet hmm

You can install both drives into your system, but only hook up the SSD while installing Windows. People have had issues where Windows puts a System Reserved partition on their hard drive. The result is the hard drive becomes "tied" to the system until you re-format. Without it, the system cannot boot.

well, 7970, basically a 280x I believe, you can get for 120$ for example. a 290 can be had for 200$

I completly forgot about this. I had a ssd and hdd in my system, pulled out the hard drive and it wouldnt boot. save yourself the hassle and wait to plug in the hard drive. I completely forgot about this
