I'm Looking to build a low to medium budget rig. I dont want pay 20% less for 80% less performance but I also want to keep costs at a minimum. Please give me any tips, advice or recomendations to help me construct this rig.

Here is my plan so far:

CPU - Intel core i5 4690k

CPU cooler - Cooler Master hyper 212 EVO

GPU - Asus GeForce GTX 970

Motherboard - Asus 797 A

Memory - Kingston fury black series 8gb

Storage - Kingston HyperX 3k 240gb SSD, Western Digital caviar blue 1TB HD

Power supply - Cooler Master V550

Case - Phanteks Enthoo Pro

P.S. I'm not an expert at rig building so please notify me of the "obvious" errors.

Yeah, looks good TBH. But if you were to do some overclocking you might want to consider getting a AIO liquid cooler, just my opinion though. Also, what's your budget?

Don't be afraid to try used items on Ebay. Things like cases, motherboards, peripherals, and well-maintained graphics cards and CPUs sell cheap and can be a great value to a low-budget build. Many components with moving parts should be purchased new to be safe (though I've had pretty good luck with used graphics cards)

AMD FX8350  2x ASUS Radeon R9 270X 4GB  ASUS Sabertooth 990FX  -  Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 16GB

Fairly standard cookie-cutter build. Nothing wrong with it that I can find.

Laptop - Lenovo Y50   Keyboard - Corsair K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown   Mouse - Logitech G502 Proteus Core   Mousepad - Razer Firefly

You can OC on air, with no issue.

But I'd recommend a different 970. The Strix has some shaky power delivery.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Is the MSI a better option

I went with the EVGA SSCs... they were the best of both worlds: run cool, but overclock like mad.

What HD would you suggest

from personal experience:

my WD blue is shaky as hell. (vibration noise)

my WD black is silent, but has its well-known clickyclick when loading stuff.

from what i've heard:

seagate barracuda appears to be a really good choice.

I +1 that, my seagate barracuda 3TB is brilliant, hardly ever makes a noise, and when it does it's not that audible.
