i got this mobo "gigabyte z97x gaming 3"  (full specs see below)

normaly my sound is going through my hdmi to a 5.1 samsung surround set that is configured in my racing simulator. but when not using it i want to have a 2.1 setup.

so i connected the line out (green) to my speakers and the purple (sub/center) to my subwoofer. when i play the test sound in realtek hd audio manager i hear sound from the sub. but when listening to music or watching video i dont.

how do i get this to work?

Maybe those players use another system audio device? You can check it out in system sound properties or in the player's playback options. That's the only way it can be.
