I've just gotten Dragon age inquisition and i am loving it so far

However i realised that my OC goes back to factory settings of 1040/1300 instead of my 1080/1350 OC that i've did on it.

It actually bounces around sometimes too

It still runs at factory settings even after i click apply in my MSI AB (it goes to factory settings after awhile, it runs at my OC for a lil bit)+

Any solutions/Reasons why?

have you tried EVGA's precisionX?

what tool are you using to check your clock speeds?

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

install gpu-z and see what that says, msi afterburner should have no problem setting the overclock (got my gtx460 running stock mem but 797mhz core {would set higher but i set 850mhz the driver just declocks it to 797mhz})

also try setting msi like i have done, if that doesnt work try update/reinstalling your video card drivers and if that doesnt work reinstall msi afterburner (also make sure your not overclocking your gpu with another program as this WILL cause problems

Alright! GPU Z tells me that im running at factory settings D:

Does it only happen in DAI?

If your card is set to +0% power limit, set it to +20% and try playing again.

Wont that produce more heat?

try both tools.

GPU-Z is one of the better clock checking tools, i would trust that over MSI-AB

yes, but it will give it more headroom.

How power limit works is that non overclocked cards, being limited to 100% it cannot draw more power than the suggested power rating set by AMD.

Sometimes an overclocked GPU may have a momentary spike in power draw, where at attempts to take say 110%. If you do not give it at least +10% power limit, the GPU will refuse the OC setting and revert to factory settings.

So giving it a higher power limit doesn't cause it to consume more power and run hotter. It just provides more room for power draw fluctuations so as to avoid dropping the OC settings.

Ah that makes sense! My oc seems to be steady now! Thanks! :)

yes i would. when i OC my cards i always increase the temp&power targets to avoid throttling.

just realised i forgot to show you how my msi after is set up like, silly me

Yeah i have it setup exactly like yours! Just that i have the extend official overclocking limits ticked under AMD compatability properties!
