New Gpu Setup

Hello folks, I recently ordered a gigabyte g1 gaming 960 and am very excited to receive it. However I have not ever overclocked due to raw bafflement and I dont know what I should do when this new card arrives. I would be very grateful if someone could give a rookie either pointers or a short list of things I should do to get this card setup and over clocked so I can get the bang for my buck.

install, msi afterburner, set power limit to 110%. increase the core till it crashes then push it back 5 or 10 at a time till its stable, then do the same with memory. bench with something like valley or occt.
