MAC users help please on external HDDs

Go to solution Solved by itsmyjobtoknow,

If I am assuming correctly, the external drive is formatted in NTFS and based on what I know, a Mac can read from an NTFS but can't write to an NTFS based drive.

You have two options, buy a software that allows the Mac user to be able to read and write to NTFS

Or

Format the drive to something like exFAT where both windows and Mac can read and write to the drive.

hello..

so my boss' girl just bought my 1TB WD external drive..it's functioning just fine for movie storage and whatnot..

when she's using the boss' MacBook Pro (not sure with the variants though), she's able to copy the files into the laptop, but she's unable to copy movies into the external drive..she showed me the green-ok-icon and the red-cross-icon when she's dragging the files..

is there anything i'm missing out? perhaps any work around so she can save her movies in the drive?entirely noob on those macs..

thanks

the drive has to be formated for Mac OS use

the WD drive is formatted as NTFS for Windows

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

osx can only read ntfs formatted drive but cannot write to it.
