SSD Upgrade?

Go to solution Solved by VolkA,

yeah..almost 20s..and when it login to windows, it still need time to open up all the applications..not instant like before..and when i'm using samsung magician software it said that my ssd health is 81%

Hmmmm. But basically to me, I still think that if your current SSD is not faulty, then not really worth to change it at the moment. Unless your SSD speed becomes HDD then change it now! Haha.

hi guys, i need an opinion to upgrade my ssd..currently i'm using samsung 840 250Gb  (not Evo or pro one..the standard 840)

and right now i'm considering to upgrade 850 Evo 250Gb or 500Gb..

what do you guys think? is it worth the upgrade or not?

thanks before

If you need the capacity, why not? You could also just get a hybrid drive (hdd+ssd)

 junker build in the making

i dont need the space, because as for now i have around 4tb hdd..

but is it worth the upgrade for samsung 840 to 850 evo? the difference only in write factor which in 840 only around 200 and 850 evo can reach 520 mb/s

200 mb/s and 520 mb/s is quite a different. But then again, do you require the upgrade of speed? If you are happy with what you have now, then save up the money and don't bother to upgrade the SSD. Sooner or later a better / faster device will come out. Maybe by then, you can upgrade it. That's what I think I would do ...

What about the new NVMe Intel SSD 750? Not sure it will work with your board. The thing is quadrupel as fast as all SSDs currently. Intel just released it.

if u ask me do I require the upgrade of speed or not, honestly I don't know..but atm I feel that my boot is so slow, even though the windows already loaded but actually they are still loading the startup apps etc..

and i heard that 850 evo 250gb and 500gb have a little difference

my mobo is not supported atm, and it actually too expensive for me, i prefer spend the money to other parts

Hmmm. When you mentioned slow, how slow. Like 20 seconds? Basically, not sure what's the different between 250gb and 500gb. Mine is 840 evo 500gb and my boot up takes about 7 - 10 seconds or so.
