I recently purchased an i5 4670k and a msi z87-43 motherboard. I'm trying to overclock, nothing major i only want about 4ghz, but when I do this my computer will boot with the overclock just fine and work properly doing normal things like serfing the internet etc.. But when i go to play battlefield 3 (ultra settings) it will work just fine for about 20 minutes of playtime and then i get the dreaded blue screen. Also when i leave my computer and come back to it after it already goes into sleep mode it says that the overclock failed and that it is booting with default settings. Ive checked the temp and it stays at about 50-55. If anyone has experienced problems like this or knows how to fix it please help me out. Like I said i dont want anything major just 4ghz.

Thanks

What other settings have you changed/used?

just the cpu ratio and the ram frequency to 1600mhz

You have to quote a person's post or else they don't get a notification when you reply to them.

Did you change the ratio in the bios or using a msi tool?

Hmm, how is it with default setting in bios, do you also get frezees or blue screens?  Maybe you will have to adjust the voltage slightly 0,05 or 0.1 should do the trick...

is it possible that your CPU is not very stable or your RAM is misscalculating (unstable too).

Have you tried increasing the CPU voltage a bit more(0.05/0.1)?

is voltage still set to auto? could be overvolting and causing the issue maybe. Fire up CPU-Z and try loading up the CPU a bit, run something like AIDA64 and see what you CPU or VCore voltage is doing. For 4ghz I would be suprised at anything above 1.2v to be stable...

You can't keep everything on auto and expect a decent overclock.

It's no the overclock you need, but the overclock you deserve.
