So, to my understanding, VGA shared memory is memory from your RAM allocated to the graphics buffer, right? So, is this equal to the actual graphics buffer? I know it'll be slower, longer latency and DDR3 isn't nearly as fast as GDDR5, but could you turn a 1GB graphics card into a 2GB graphics card using VGA shared memory?

Discrete GPU's use there own VRAM, onboard has to use mobo based RAM to store video information

which GPU are you referring to?

older GPUs tend to have this feature for HyperMemory or shared graphics

but when GDDR5 is really fast

sharing video memory with the DDR3 which is use by system RAM will make your GPU run slower

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I'm referring to the AMD Radeon R7 260X MSI Gaming 2G

that GPU has 2GB of GDDR5 memory

i dont see the point of getting extra memory from the system RAM for VRAM

that is unless you are talking about CrossFiring the R7 240/250 with the A10-7700K/7850K iGPU
