So I've decided its time to ugrade my GPU. My budget is no more than $200. I play games like Minecraft and Gmod mostly, nothing too extreme. I would like to be able to run Minecraft @1080p in 60fps, and being able to run the Shaders mod would be a really nice touch also, thanks for your suggestions! :)

For only a little bit more, you can get a Sapphire Vapor-X 280x, and this is by and far your best deal of the three.

AMD gpu's for some reason run shit with MC, my 290x looses to my brothers 750ti

Maybe your settings or something because most people I know have AMD and it runs it really well. Also you have a 8350 with a 290x? Maybe that's the problem.

more likely a cpu problem. minecraft devours cpu's. a sandy bridge pentium will beat an 8350 in minecraft...

that cpu is going to be much better in minecraft than an 8350.

oh and on topic, an R9 280 will be the strongest for the price, or a gtx 960.

Vanilla Minecraft no mods?

MY BROTHER RUNS A GOD DAMN G3258

The G3258 has about 3 times higher single core performance as the 8350 at stock.

Minecraft only uses one core, And a maxumum of 2 cores with Optifine if im not mistaken.

Yeah, the G3258 at stock gets an almost 45% better Passmark single thread score than a stock FX-8350, and Minecraft is pretty well-known for being dominated by single core performance.

Sorry, I meant 2 times.

Those are also manufactures benchmarks, They have to be taken with a grain of salt. And i said At Stock, Not Overclocked.

that's pretty accurate across mixed tests too http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G3258-vs-AMD-FX-8350/2434vs1489 with an average 40% better single core performance if neither are overclocked.

seeing as the OP has a Xeon, they should be good with an amd or nvidia gpu.

That's not his system though.

I used that exact RAM and those exact SSDs to make $40,000 joke PCs in other threads. Each DIMM cost $2000 when it was on the market and those SSD were like $6000 each.

Oh please, whats wrong with a 4.8ghz 8350 and a 290x?

That's a bottleneck. Especially in a game like Minecraft that demands strong cores not weak ones.

OP: If $200 is your limit then an R9 280 or R9 280X will be your best bet, but I would encourage you to save up an additional $20-$40 and buy an R9 290. Much stronger card that will last you longer than the 280. That being said, all options I presented to you are way overkill for a game like Minecraft.

Minecraft is nothing... I ran minecraft on "fancy" graphics with an AMD HD 3870. Buy the 280 or 280x. You won't be bottlenecked by an 8350 in f***ing minecraft. I run Minecraft and a server with over 100fps with optifine average on an FX 6300 4.2ghz and GTX 970
