Can't do other things while downloading. Need help!

I got upgraded my router and internet speed from 30 mbps to 60 and ever since then I have been having issues while downloading and also trying to play games or watch videos at the same time. My internet just gets super slow while doing everything else, the download stays fine but I cant do anythign else. Before I upgraded I could do other things as I was downloading. Can anyone help me out and give me some advice. Im using a Netgear Nighthawk router currently. My setup is Wall-Modem-Router-Computer.

it is possible that your router is getting overloaded what router is it

@Battleship Yellow If you read the post it says what router he is using.

 

it sounds like the download is taking all the bandwidth and not allowing it to allocate some to other web activities.

 

check if the router has any firmware updates.

Nethear Nighthawk should have QoS. Enable that and give whatever protocol (ie http) the highest priority.

depend on what you are downloading. You can try to find a download manager that allows your to limit download speed. (e.g. Steam has this option). 

Side note: this won't help if you are torrenting, which takes too much upload bandwidth
