Why does everyone say that VGA suck?

It's analog and the connector is shitty and old, well to me it's just outdated considering it was released almost 3 decades ago

Why does everyone say that VGA suck?

 

The quality depends on the cable.

 

A crappy cable = worse signal

 

Longer distance = quality degrades

 

 

Its also an very old standard. Hell, my Geforce 3 Ti200 from 15 years ago has a VGA connector (as well as an s video out)

 

VGA doesn't exist on new cards unless you adapt down from DVI.

but DVI is also analog.... So DVI is crap too?

Apparantly he asked a friend for help (which isnt me) to build his computer and he kinda got scammed

He paid nearly 3kSGD for a system with asus maximus formula, a palit jetstream 970 with a 4690k

And that guy gave him a VGA cable for his display which is 1080p i believe

DVI is not analog it just has analog connectors incase you want to convert it to VGA for legacy devices.

Heck even its name says it digital "Digital Visual Interface".

it can only support up to 720p

 

 

DVI is not analog it just has analog connectors incase you want to convert it to VGA for legacy devices.

He is going to get the same monitor as me soon (u2414h) and hopefully i can get the shop owner to throw in a hdmi cable for him! Thank you all for the help :)

holy shit my friend got a 780 ti and a 4690K on a custom loop in a phanteks enthoo luxe on a asus maximus vii hero for 2000.

 

Your bud got really ripped off.

 

And that isnt even a great 970!
