Why does everyone say that VGA suck?

The quality depends on the cable.

 

A crappy cable = worse signal

 

Longer distance = quality degrades

 

 

Its also an very old standard. Hell, my Geforce 3 Ti200 from 15 years ago has a VGA connector (as well as an s video out)

 

VGA doesn't exist on new cards unless you adapt down from DVI.

Im not using VGA, but my friend who has a 970 is using a DVI to VGA adapter while using a VGA cable... Annnnnd i told him VGA sucked without knowing why at all

Hopefully i didnt just wasted his $$ if he ever gets a display port connector

Apparantly he asked a friend for help (which isnt me) to build his computer and he kinda got scammed

He paid nearly 3kSGD for a system with asus maximus formula, a palit jetstream 970 with a 4690k

And that guy gave him a VGA cable for his display which is 1080p i believe

DVI is not analog it just has analog connectors incase you want to convert it to VGA for legacy devices.

Heck even its name says it digital "Digital Visual Interface".

holy shit my friend got a 780 ti and a 4690K on a custom loop in a phanteks enthoo luxe on a asus maximus vii hero for 2000.

 

Your bud got really ripped off.

I got my setup in my signature for around 1.6k (i was too impatient and bought the 290x before the release of the 900 series cards D: and gotten the 290x for 700SGD and it is now 550SGD for a MSI lightning one D:)

Oh, thats about 2200 USD. Still friend got a custom loop and a 780 ti on a water block. Likely a better mobo than your friend as well.

 

Still ripped off pretty good.
