Hello,

I have been considering upgrading my graphics card. I'm currently using an HD 6850 1gb. It clearly lacks horse power when it comes to Diablo 3 multiplayer games.

Here's my specs:

955be c3 @ stock clock

4gb ddr3 1333

hd 6850 1gb

dont remember mobo but it's pci-e x16 (first gen i think) since it's old.

650w pwr

Been considering the 960 but i dont know if it's compatible and i dont know if cpu will bottleneck.

Seeking advice, thank you. :)

yes you can upgrade to the 280x (better and cheaper than the 960)

the cpu will bottleneck it

Better yes, cheaper not really. A lot of 960's seem to be cheap.

$185 for a 280  $200 for a 960 last I checked

EDIT: right now they are tied at $190

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Look at the normal prices for the two cheapest ones.

Hello,

I have been considering upgrading my graphics card. I'm currently using an HD 6850 1gb. It clearly lacks horse power when it comes to Diablo 3 multiplayer games.

Here's my specs:

depending on budget pick up an r9-270 (or whatever amd come out with soon) or a 280/280x or even 290.

only get a gpu that matches your res though, 270 for 1080p, 280/x for 1440p and 290 for ultra at 1440p or medium 4k.

dont worry about bottlenecking ive had 2 phenomx4s and now an x6 and if you look in my stuff album i have benchmarked them allot (can do again if you'd like) it purely depends on the game and res, if youre at 1360x768 youll never get 100% gpu usage in dota 2 with an r9-280 no matter what cpu you have.

again, if you want me to test i will, noone above tests this stuff they just repeat what others say who repeat what others say....

diablo 3 is very well made and uses multiple threads so single core performance is irrelevant

http://www.techspot.com/review/532-diablo-3-performance/page5.html

also if you have ddr3 you're 90% likely to have pcie 2.0 not that it makes any difference.

get 8gb of ram mate, thatll give you a better boost than a cpu.

Hey demon thanks for the answer.

I took other recommendations with a grain of salt because i know my cpu can handle diablo 3 without any issues.

I have no plans to go over 1080p anytime soon so, ill take a look at the 270 and 280. I was kinda hoping to give nvidia a shot just to see what it looks like now so ill consider equivalent cards too.

Also, i used to have 8gb ram till some sticks died. (prob because of me learning overclocking back 2 yrs ago hehe)

Thanks for your wise advices.

3.2GHz quad core, should be fine with a 960.

AMD might have more bang for your buck though. (As a Nvidia fan... i tell you these things.) xD

960 has the option of fans off mode though, and the card can run cooler than AMD, cause it uses less power. ;)
