Sennheiser HD 598?

I'm going to buy a new pair of headphones soon and the Sennheiser HD 598's seem to be the butter zone for 200$

Can anyone recommend a better pair of headphones around the 200$ mark?

I've got a Asus zonar sound card (I'm going to upgrade this later)

I have those headphones, they are ok. They are not really bassy so that was their downfall for me, i changed them up to some 770 pros and i liked them a lot better. They should be in your price range. I think the 598s are fairly neutral sounding headphones (dont quote me on that). However i just bought Sennheiser HD 650s and my god they are 10x better then ether of them. But they also cost a heap more.

Yeah from what I've heard the 598's are very neutral in their sound reproduction.

Bass is a big one for me, thank you for clearing that up :)

I'm probably going to go with the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO's

Do you think the 650's are worth double the price?

I'm a senior and don't have much money laying around :P

also just curious, what sound card are you running?

If gaming go 598, music go shure srh-840 or beyers dt770

Will work for electronic components and parts

If you're wanting to go with Beyerdynamic, you might want to look at the custom one pro:

It's the new one out with the adjustable bass porting.

The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro's are intriguing, but they're only 16 ohm drivers unfortunately.

I'm going to have a xonar essence STX powering them and 16 ohm's is very low impedance.

From the reviews I've read the DT 770's have a better sound stage and better response in all ranges across the board.

I'm still sold on the DT 770's :)
