I'm planning on building my first high end build in which I'm confused on a certain portion of it. For this Gpu setup I'd love to have an nvidia quadro k4000 and a Titan x but I don't know if it would work. I'll be puting it in a system with an Intel core i7 5960x and an asus rampage five extreme if that has anything to do with it. Will it work? Please help, I don't know too much about pc's yet

It will work. What is your intended use for the machine?

Why not the K4200? The update to the K4000.

I'm planning on using this for 3d animation and video editing but I also want the Titan for 4k gaming. I also found the k4000 on sale for $650 so I thought it would be a good price to performance card for the build

The term price to performance should never be used in the same sentence as Quadros.

Quadro's are used for 10-bit color output, double precision, reliability and validation with programs. Not for maximum performance. Unless you are using the PC to make your living, I would actually advise against a Quadro.

Thanks for the advice! What would you recommend I do instead

If you are already are planning on running a card like a Titan X, I would simply skip the Quadro and save the $500, or go big and pick up a second Titan X.

What if I were to go to 1440p on an rog swift monitor, what would you recommend?

That monitor does not support 10-bit color anyway so consumer cards will perform better and Quadro's will offer you limited benefits. Mainly CAD validation program which you don't need for video rendering.

I would recommend you stick with the consumer GPU's as they fit your needs better.
