Cables are such a weird topic most headphone enthusiasts are very skeptic about this topic(including me ) because it just sounds ridicules from the price to the marketing to people impressions but most of us never actually tried them.

I actually hope to one day get a set of cables( with return option) and actually blind test them but it's just looks like snake oil and this market prices get really high.

As with the cable itself, who knows, maybe those bright minds at MIT found a revolutionary breakthrough in cable tech. Not likely, but not 100% impossible either. Just have to wait for the chance to audition it, I guess....

Agreed. I'm also interested in learning what their motivation was in choosing a name that forms the acronym "MIT."  More specifically, I wonder if it was their intention to ride on the coattails of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

This level of insanity is far from new.

 

The last time I was involved in discussing blatant placebo scams, I made a reference to religion and the mods on Headfi totally used that as an excuse to lock the thread. The thread was about basically a quarter inch adapter that was called HOT! and it was dissected and brought to a lab and proven to be junk (of course, such serious level of evidence against it isn't really necessary, but it was pretty fun to watch what happened in the thread and the manufacturer trying to justify their bullshit). I should dig it up, some of it was comedy gold.

 

And even THAT wasn't a new level. The tuned crystal crap and the stuff that's supposed to elevate the speaker cables from the ground which is supposed to somehow improve sound quality? Those things are old but GL trying to break that level.  :lol: Even if you compare it by the amount of funds raised, I'm sure some of the HD800s aftermarket cable companies have earned way past that in total. But, I guess this is an in-your-face way of seeing how crazy people can be.
