PSU on i2500k

Go to solution Solved by KemoKa,

Don't do it, your PSU is the one thing you cannot skimp out on. You entrust a lot of raw electrical power to your PSU. No-name PSUs have no failsafes, no protection, so if it goes out, it will most likely take something or everything with it. Don't take the chance. Get something like a CX430 and that will do just fine. No sense in entrusting your investment to something that can literally set your house on fire.

can i use a non certified psu with an i2500k that will never be overclocked. im just worried about the power being stable to power it up. it will have no gpu tho and its just gona be basic pc without any hard use. and maybe used for dota 2 sometimes.
thanks

What is the PSU? The Antec VP550P is a non-certified PSU due to the fact that it is a 230v only PSU (during the time of release, desktop PSUs were tested at 115v for 80plus). Despite that, it is better than many entry level power supplies like the Corsair CX430 and Seasonic S12II-B due to it being a Delta build independent regulated PSU.

However, there are high wattage non-certified unit out there, that is incapable of supplying any amount of power safely. There was a "680w" PSU violated ATX specification @ 100wDC, and burned out at around 275wDC.
