Hi guys, I got a huge problem with my laptop. Purchased it last August 2012.

It seems AMD HD 6470M is broken. I think it wasn't really utilizing the graphics card for the game because that 1 gig video card can handle dota 2 with ease IMO. The FPS always fluctuates that drops to 10-15 FPS then goes up again every 4 seconds ,seems to be unplayable. And then now it got worse. I replaced the thermal paste last 2 weeks. Then when I checked GPU-Z the AMD Radeon seems to have 0% fan and 0 Temperature everything in it was 0.( The laptop fan is clean though and working) And the fan is working even though it states  While the Intel graphics card has 97 degree Celsius and the like. But last time(before I put thermal paste) it wasnt like this,Radeon has 30% fan and 90+ temp.

Last Monday I was playing with the settings, trying to test which is the perfect combination of the settings to have the highest FPS, one time my fps turned to 100FPS in DOTA2, while playing. Then now it barely reaches 20 FPS. Seems weird, when my laptop is in power saver it is smoother compared to performance mode. And Also When I unplug the charger, the FPS gets higher and the game gets smoother. Then When I use powersaving in the CCC of the AMD for DOTA2 it is smoother and faster compared to the high performance (using the amd graphics). This is a newly reformatted windows 7, because in win 8 has the same case, only 10 FPS. Last 2  weeks it always shuts down by itself maybe because of over heating, Then this week it BSOD like 3 times already stating Poor Performance and "atikmdag.sys" and win32k.sys. So now DOTA 2 is unplayable and i'm stuck. with this situation, I ran out of options so I posted here. Please be kind to me,pardon for the long post.

Cheers.

update the drivers yet?

those temps are way too hot too. it's probably temp. throttling. and killing itself slowly.

if you ran it at 90+C for weeks on end you probably killed the GPU.

that's like searing it's flesh everyday for weeks and expecting it to live.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

So how what's the plan here? Is it dead :(( Yeah i dont know what happened man.

But then while im reading this,i checked it in the GPU-Z a miracle happened, it is now 67 degrees both AMD and INTEL. WTF is wrong. Thanks bro.

Well I in windows 8.1 but i went back to win 7 to use the original drivers. Tried to uninstall the grapics card in to the device manager, and scan for changes and install again. But nothing changes. Thanks for replying bro

here's the plan, get some compressed air, BLOW your laptop out. HARD. (no homo)

update your graphics drivers.

get coretemp or GPU-Z that works too, and keep an eye on your temps.

if this is a cronic problem you might want to invest in a lap cooler.

try to kep your temps below 80C, 85C is fine, it might throttle a bit, but 90+ and you're really really shortening it's life.

if you feel really confident about it, take your laptop appart and check the heatsink for dust, and replace the thermal pad/paste with new paste.

Dont take my word for it,

But what I can see is that probably when its in power saver its limiting the processor to eg, 70% and its say... 85 Deg so its not throttling. But when its in performance mode, your laptop lets it go to say, 100% and its probably at close to 100 Deg, and I assume its throttling, well below 70%, therefore in power saver mode you run better. Same with the charger problem.

So what shall I do, it wasn't like this before. I mean the games becomes slower when it is in battery mode, but now it is the opposite. :/

check your power settings.

still keep those temps low though.
