i upgraded from a 560 SLI build. i'd say upgrade every 4 years or 4 generations of GPU/CPU.

then again with 4k we're going to see a bigger curve than ever before. if i were you i'd wait 1 more year.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

This was my thinking as well, With "next gen" and 4K becoming a reality I figured maybe it was time to make a switch.

It's totaly self preference.. I've upgraded after 6 gens and next gen.. it all depends on what you want / need / can afford and if the performance is good enough for you at your current settings.

1 thing I will say is that you should not try and make GPU choices on a monitor upgrade which you a not 100% getting. I went dual 780's in preperation for a ROG swift, then never got one...

Live and learn.

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

Quote or @dzzope to get my attention..

i upgrade my gpu when i cant play my favorite game at 60 fps + in the best settings

im sticking to 1080p until i can make a 4k build for 1200$ with monitor and able to play 60+

My thoughts exactly. With Witcher 3 coming out it's pretty unlikely for me to run 60 fps with fairly high settings.
