Radeon Graphics Card DONE? HELLPPP

Go to solution Solved by Dannykins,

ya tried that... all drivers are good i guess.... might have to start looking for a new card... :(

as a last resort i would suggest removing the card and then reinstalling it, making sure everything is connected correctly before getting a new card, if however you have fried it, with the next card you get do not Over clock so high, it is better to increase slowly and benchmark each time its time consuming but better than replacing a card, do not feel so bad we all make mistakes and we learn from them, this is something that you will learn from think positive always :)

Hello everyone thanks for commen on over, i have a weird problem that (im not the best computer techy) I dont know much about...

Computer Specs:

- z97 Gaming 5

- Gigabyte radeon r9 270 2gb oc version

- 500 w

- 1 tb hdd

- ect...

So about an hour before i had done some messing around, overclocking (attention: i - dont - know - pretty much anything about overclocking, i just click the oc button), did a benchmark (valley benchmark), nothing too crazy, just having fun. But the problems actually came up when I was doing no benchmarks, no overclocking (but the grpahics card does have like an overdrive button i leave on), I was just opening some apps about to record and the problems struck. The screen connected to the graphics card all of the sudden had verticle blue and green lines, and to top it off i could hear fans (i think may be the graphics card's but not completely sure...) going really fast! Of couse i freaked out and instantly went to the back and 'shut er down'. I called my dad and he thought it was overheating, so i put external fans onto it and let it sit for a long while. It got really bad when i booted up my computer becuase then the graphics card fans didnt start and the screen was just black.

I dont know if some how i fried my card, but please help! The card is only like 4 months old, new with the computer system.

Thanks  :)

- Ethan

Try disabling the overclocking thing.

could be a driver issue. have you updated the drivers? or try reinstalling them if you have.

if this doesn't work, and the graphics card doesn't seem to run the fans, and you have tried reseating the Graphics by disconnecting it, turning it on, reconnecting it, and rebooting, then you may need to RMA your graphics card.

you have an unstable over clock it seems go into whatever you used to OC and set it back to default then see it that solves the problem.

Try disabling the overclocking thing.

Well the problem is, is that all i use to "overclock" is Amd's catalist control center and the center doesnt even see my card, like its not even there! Im not even sure if its "overclocking", according to amd its called something like overdrive, all you have to do is checkmark some box

Theres your first problem.

Disable AMD Overdrive in the CCC panel. It is the worst overclocking program EVER. It literally causes me to BSOD when ever i turn it on and change any of the default settings. And that's not uncommon, many, many others have the same issues.

The only problem is, is that one, I really dont know how to (im not that smart in overclocking) and two, i just used Amd catalist control center to do that and now it cant even recognize it, the tabs are all gone..... Should i try looking for it in boas?

okay do this download driver sweeper

use this to remove your GPU drivers restart your computer then download the latest drivers for your GPU this should restore you back to default

if you want to OC use MSI afterburner and do not increase to stupid amounts

CCC = Catalyst Control Center, its what the application calls itself.

BSOD = Blue Screen of Death, old school tech term that refers to the iconic Blue Screen windows get when they encounter fatal errors.

and AMD = Advanced Micro Devices. Self-explanatory. They own ATI-Radeon.

oh ok thanks

No worries!

Not trying to be nasty mate, just FYI, it's just that many users used to do those type of thread titles and many of the Mods and regular users would actually complain about them and not attend to those threads solely for that reason, because it comes across as quite demanding.

No hard feelings though mate, tis all good. :)

use this after you have removed drivers  it will auto detect and install drivers for your GPU: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

use this for over clocking : https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

Do not disable Catalyst control centre just leave it when i disabled mine it reset my OC But in my opinion i do not think you should over clock until you have researched some more.

Treat people how you want to be treated.
