Different ways to overclock

When you are overclocking your CPU, is it better to do NB overclocking or multiplier overclocking? I've heard that NB gives you better single core performance? If you guys could explain the difference that would be awesome. Thanks a lot for your help!!!

If you are experienced and want to get the maximum overclock you do both, but usually you just turn up the multiplier.

Increasing the baseclock overclocks not only the cpu, but also ram, PCIe slots, SATA, iGPU and you usually don't want too mess with that too much.
