So I have a laptop and I forgot the pass to the admin account. There's a user account that I want to make admin and do administrative stuff on it. Is there a possible way to hack it or get admin access on it? It's running on Windows Vista (ew).

Boot a live linux ISO (doesn't matter which one)

Browse to system32 on the OS drive

make a copy of Sethc.exe onto the flash drive

make a duplicate of CMD.EXE and rename it sethc.exe and replace the original sethc.exe

boot into windows and at the login screen hit shift 5 times, CMD should open,

from there type "net user administrator /active:yes" minus the quotes

and boom you just enabled the true admin account

boot back into linux and replace sethc.exe with the original you copied the the USB drive earlier.

Cube Computer Channel has a video about this on youtube using a tool called Hiren's Boot CD. I'm not gonna link it because of reasons and this sounds kinda sketchy.

Don't use this tool for bad reasons.

Do not reset the password on something unless its  your machine. I cannot stress this enough.

Quick somebody get the morality police! Better tell his mummy while you're at it! (yes I know, I'm being a douchebag)

To OP: UBCD/EBCD can do this with ease.
