Help unblock LTT!

TheProfosist

Since the LTT website was infected with malware goo.gl (google's link shortener) still has not unblocked LTT. I have brought this up to @LinusTech in the past and he seemed to take note http://goo.gl/7BH8U3but nothing has changed. @Slick just ran into this issue today http://goo.gl/92c9ES .

There is a way for us as a community to possibly resolve this though. At the bottom of the page saying "this goo.gl shortlink has been disabled. It was found to be violating our Terms of Service." (pictured below) there is a link to "Request a review".

You do need to be signed in to a Google Account to complete the request. I imagine if enough of us report the links below an algorithm or possibly even a real person on goo.gl will take notice.

http://goo.gl/wK1UJ1 --- LTT Forum Main

http://goo.gl/q0K0up ---LTT Mechanical Keyboard Club

http://goo.gl/QNQ42t --- LTT Enthusiast and Gaming Mouse Owners Club

http://goo.gl/y8suZR --- LTT Show off your latest purchase

http://goo.gl/tAJrXR --- LTT Anime Club

On the left is the goo.gl link that needs to be reported and on the right is correct thread/link on the forum that it should be going to.

Edit: Here is a tweet that I put out again earlier http://goo.gl/kYIDV2if you could retweet it I would appreciate it.

Edit 2: Below is a screenshot of the error screen that I am talking about.

But LTT works fine on my computer?

It's only if you go through one of the goo.gl links that it gets blocked

Correct, I and many other people use this including Luke and the LMG guys for videos. Everything else as far as I can see has unblocked LTT since the malware attack except goo.gl.

Does this affect monetization at all?

"Why use goo.gl links?", I guess is my question. It's not much shorter tbh (unless you use Twitter).

Just asking because I'm curious.

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

Like monetization for LTT/LMG?

Same reason to use any link shortener. Its also quite a bit shorter even for just the main thread. Imagine if it was and exact post. This is also important when posting links to LTT on other sites. A good example is twitter like you mentioned.

This is a real issue and one that we as a community should be able to come together and resolve. A few clicks and a bit of your time is all we need! Also if you have a twitter account please retweet this that leads to the thread. http://goo.gl/kYIDV2

So this doesn't seem to have worked out as planned... 206 views is not what I was hoping for. :(

Here is an example of the error that I am talking about. It comes up any time you click a goo.gl link that is linking to LTT.

  • 4 weeks later...

Since this still has not had any improvement lets see if we can get this rolling and get some people on this! There is no reason any longer for Goo.gl to block LTT and from what I can tell there is no other way to get in contact will them so im hoping we as a community can come together and get this issue solved.

Done.  Hope it gets resolved for you soon.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Looks like LTT is now tagged as Spam on Goo.gl and no longer Malicious. I dont know if its really any better though because ITS STILL BLOCKED!

Thanks man but its not for me its for anyone who tires to shorten a link on LTT using Goo.gl. @Slick actually ran into this issue not too long ago http://goo.gl/92c9ES
