Uplay is the official ubisoft store its a little buggy but it does work to buy and play games go for it if its cheaper also most modern ubisoft games even if bought on steam tell you to download uplay to play them.

if you buy the game from steam you will most likely need uplay to play it, i have far cry 3 on steam and to play it it launches uplay. other than that uplay is fine

It's just an annoyance from me because its a second layer of DRM after steam for my games but other than that I don't see anything wrong with it

A few months back I pick up all the Assassin's creed games for £42.99 and Far Cry 3 for £14.99 on steam, its just luck what deal goes on that weekend.  Ubi shop does do great deals too, you just need to grab them when they are on.

If it's cheaper than other Digital platforms (if you are looking at digital only) i recommend buying it if you want it. Uplay is the official Ubisoft store and can be trusted.

Uplay is rather awkward to use (compaired to Steam + Origin, for me atleast) but i believe Ubi is forcing Uplay like EA is forcing Origin these days.
