Hey Everyone.

This will be my first build and I am just wondering if I'm making any mistakes also looking for advice. I am looking to spend around £650 and will be getting another 8gb of ram as well as a 250gb ssd later on. I have dual monitors already and peripherals (mouse keyboard speakers). I will be running windows 8 and upgrading to windows 10 when it comes out. It will be for gaming, video and photo editing and general use. I may also do some overclocking (depending on how it performs).

Thanks in advance

Quite solid build but i would change the cpu cooler to a 212 evo, otherwise it's kinda perfect for your budget and the type of work you will be doing on it.

EXTREME EDIT! DON'T BUY THAT PSU!!!! The wattage is too low to provide the required power for your GPU and CPU to run i would suggest this

Your build looks good, the only thing I would change would be the power supply to 500-600w. It may be bit much but if you want to overclock as you said then you would need a bigger power supply and future upgrades like new graphics card or something like that.

The case comes with 4 fans so no need to buy any more. The PSU allows for SLI and is also an Enhance OEM, quite good. CPU cooler is better. I changed the CPU to the cheapest 8 core FX because the difference is in clock only. There is no reason not to buy the cheapest model and simply overclock to the same speed (or higher) to that of the 8350.

This is a very competent build.  However I would like to caution you against using a single stick of ram.  Dual channel is going to give you a nice performance boost.

Seeing as you have 4 dimm slots, you can still upgrade to 16gb later by going 4x4GB which is plenty of RAM even for heavy multitaskers.

Another thing you could look into would be going with an SSHD from Seagate instead of the 1TB drive - it will cost a bit more, but will give you ssd-like performance in non-game use cases.  It's honestly great for your OS and productivity apps.

Finally, I would suggest going with a beefier PSU.   430 with a 970 and that FX is cutting it pretty close.
