Well, for future reference, you typed Mega BITs. Lowercase b = bits. Uppercase is bytes. You will get asked to clarify this on any forum worth it's salt, because as we have already seen, it needs to be clearly defined, or people will expect "hey, I have XXX Mbps internet, why does steam only download in XX MBps"?

So, If he truly has 7MBps speed, then he is paying for 58 Mbps internet service package. So when you run speedtest.net, he should be seeing 58Mbps, since speedtest measures in bits, not bytes. 

 

But from your other posts,  it sounds like he just has some very bad connectivity issues with his system. If you got much faster speeds on another system, then it may be an issue with your network card.

Try connecting directly to the modem/router, to see if the speeds improve. This, through process of elimination, will show if its the wireless adapter in his computer.

They all are all Updated, Maybe is the wifi card? It came with driver's to install and it came with two ariels? I installed both, will I put in the disk and see because windows 8 when I was setting it up it automatically dected the wifi card but maybe not fully?

Don't go with the disc. It's better to get the latest updates from the manufacturer website.

 

Are there any other programs that might interfere? e.g. virtual OS, streaming programs, benchmarking, multi-OS.

tried all of them still not working and now it keeps disconnecting randomly and wont connect to steam or internet sometimes, will I try seating it in a different PCI-E lane?

I cant connect his PC directly to the modem because its upstairs and there is no socket for the modem to be connected to so I cant try Ethernet or other options or otherwise I would have and now its started to disconnect randomly and he cant connect to games, I'm using a wifi adapter PCI card in his computer, it has to areils coming out the back of the computer and the router is about 7m away just below.

What is your specs.. like you said.. the same as yours? OP! But.. is he using Wireless N? Was there any other downloads on the network at the time? Normally even wireless N on my 200 buck Netgear AC1900 router isn't even a issue(I use killer ethernet). Ask your friend if any of his housemates were downloading something.. Try getting one of those programs that will test your internet connection.. btw those programs will give you MB's per second much higher then the actual download speed

yes same has mine haha yeah he's using wireless network he has the route box downstairs about 7M away from him and no, no other people in the house were using any device just us and I cant connect the router via Ethernet like I would like to do because there is no socket upstairs that will allow me to connect router. Now we cant connect to any online games, sure the non-multiplayer sides of the game work like a charm on his new pc but as soon as we try to connect online it says ''cant connect to steam servers and it cant find any servers and then the computer might get disconnected randomly'' and this isn't normal because before he was using a laptop before and was able to connect perfectly to these games online. I am using a PCI wifi adapter card with 2 atenas in the PC, maybe its not strong enough connection and I should try this powerline adapter thing everyone is on about but I have no clue what they are, We're in a dimela <_<

To see if its just a weak component.. or a PC issue.. take the computer downstairs.. and test some game download there.. Like semi close to the router, but  without ethernet.. I hope it isn't too much of a hassel bringing that down his stairs

hey guys, glad to report got it working, this is what I did:

 

Replaced network card in to a different slot on MOBO

In the BIOS I disabled onboard lan controller and I uninstalled and reinstalled network card drivers

Restarted few times

 

And bam back in business, his signal still Isn't great and lags a bit but he told me he is changing to a new ISP soon and they are getting fiber-optics very soon aswell so he said he's fine for playing games like minecraft,skyrim, dragon age inquistion, farcy ect. for now until he gets a better/ new connection.
