Backplates

Is it just me or do others think that , while the card manufacturers are charging a small fortune for their cards they could include a backplate !

I used to be a junior partner in a small custom auto parts business . We designed and made custom shifters , mirrors , etc . So , I know it would cost roughly $2.75 apiece or less to have them made in bulk lots of 5,000 . That makes it a tiny loss of profit in trade for customer happiness/loyalty !

What do you folks think ?

In many cases backplates might look good on a GPU but don't really server a practical purpose. The GPU manufacturers no matter if nVidia, AMD or the board partners try to maximize their profit.

There are other scenarios where backplates could be an issue, so that's why they leave them off.

I don't want to pay for a backplate, that $2.75 apiece will get passed on as $10 or $20. I don't care what my card looks like since the only time I see it is when I'm installing it, cleaning my case, or removing it.
