No idea why it is originally £105, must be something I am missing. This somewhat special HDD is for £42 right now... what is so special about it?! This is the UK link, the deal will apply to US, CA etc.

There's nothing special about it. In the UK, that drive is always beterrn 40 and 50 quid, so I guess Amazon just messed up their prices ;)

Hmm... that's been ~50 for months now. (In US it is about the same as your euro stuffs :P)

No, the incorrect "original price" was deliberately set far over the actual MSRP by Amazon to trick people into thinking they are getting a good deal. Amazon does this with a lot of their items that are "on sale." It's a pretty shady business tactic and it's the reason I have mixed feelings about Amazon.

Don't know if thats true, but if it is, then it is a pretty dodgy move.
