strange game freeze

Go to solution Solved by ebobde,

i think it was due to the fact that i have me games on one drive my programmes on another and my os on a third, i formatted and installed new os with apps on same drives and its smooth as anything now, definitely wasn't clock, memory or audio issues

Right, im having a strange problem with my pc, when i play games its every now and then the game completely freezes, the audio in the game loops and then it unfreezes, note  its just the game audio that freezes raidcall conversations dont, ive also noticed on me second monitor and window that is open gets one of those 'this application not responding' borders and then it goes away, although im using a university supplied internet it has been sufficient and i dont think its that im running an GTX 970 (this was overclocked but i set it back to stock to see if it was that to no avail) an i5 4690k @4.4Ghz and 8gb or ram ive tested it on garrysmod and orcs must  die 2 (the games im trying to play with my Freind)

temps are all fine as i monitor them quite a lot, theres nothing running in processes and cpu, gpu and ram usage is all normal

any suggestions?

Heres my temps and usages in garrys mod right after it happened (the readings in the middle it as it was happening)

what program you were running when it hangs?

have you tired disable Flash Hardware Acceleration for web browsers?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Saw this issue with a bad over clock a few times. Set your CPU back to stock settings and try it.

Sometimes 100% stable isn't 100% functional.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

changed it to base clock speed and its still doing it

I had the same problem with my QX9650. I'll try and recreate it tonight to jar my memory on the fix.

Unless someone else figures it out before I get home from work.
