Fan Error

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

you need a fan plugged into the CPU fan header

I just finished building my first computer and when I went to go turn it on I reveived a fan error message. I hit F1 to enter the bios and it said that only 2 of the 6 fans were being picked up by the motherboard. I later realized that this was due to the fact that one two of the fans are plugged directly into the psu and 3 others were plugged into a fan header on the motherboard through a fan extender. Even though all of the fans were running I was still receiving the fan error which is preventing me from overclocking

Never heard of fans needing a driver..... I would suggest looking up the version of your Motherboard and seeing if anyone else has this issue... Also Google your fan extender and see if that has anything to do with it.... My old idea is that your motherboard would be detecting like 3 fans, trying to control all 3 and only being able to control 1 depending on the splitter.. Thus throwing an error. No idea why they would need to lock overclocking for that reason though...

List your PC specs (Motherboard, Cpu, PSU, Fan Extender, etc.)

Edit: I'm Stupid....

^^^^ THAT would be the only thing that makes sense. Find the headsink fan and connect it to CPU1 pwm output marked on your motherboard.
