I know, console peasant, but I just feel more comfortable playing Call of Duty with an Xbox remote. That is why I ordered a wireless reciever for PC. I got it to work by this method:

and it worked excellent. Over the past few days I showed a few friends how to do it (I'd uninstall the drivers and repeat the steps from the video which I have memorized) but recently while showing another friend, something different happened. For some reason this time, it asked for an admin password. Of course I thought it was weird at the time but I did it anyways. It required me to restart my PC. That spooked me a bit more. After it restarted, I did all the steps again. Except the last step was different. It is supposed (and USED to) to look like this:

in case you can't read it, it says something like Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version #.#.#.#### (8/13/2009)

but instead mine now looks like this

(A screenshot from Microsoft forums but it looks exactly like mine)

I have no idea what happened or how to fix it. I was hoping someone here could help with this.

Dang it, was gonna have my introduction as my first post I dun fubbed up :P

Make sure you uninstall all drivers related to the controller AND the receiver, reboot with the receiver unplugged, and start from the beginning.
