Hello,

I need your advice regarding my build. This is my first PC build and I did alot of researching for the best build that fits my needs.
The main thing what I want to do with my new PC is play game like Star Citizen & GTA 5, ofcourse I would also like to play games that still needs to come out. It is also necessary I can do some graphics work like for example Photoshop.

The hardest parts are the Motherboard, CPU and GPU. I do have the intention to overclock.
This is the build so far:

Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K Boxed

Processor cooler: Thermalright True Spirit 140 Power

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5

GPU: Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5

Memory: Crucial DDR3 Ballistix Sport 2x4GB 1600 C9 (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU)

Hard disk (SSD): Crucial MX100 512GB

Hard disk (7200 RPM): WD Blue WD10EZEX - 1TB

Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Zwart

PSU: Seasonic G-Serie 550Watt

Disc-burner (DVD): Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE

All this costs around €1250. My limit is €1300.

My questions to you are:
- Should I replace the SSD to 256GB and go for an i7 instead of the i5 I have selected now?
- Is this motherboard good enough?
- Is the PSU good enough or can I also buy a Seasonic S12G 450W? Both have a 80 Plus Gold certificate.

Thanks in advance,
J W.

go with the i7, stick with the bigger PSU.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.
