ATH-AD700X cable

Why is this thing SO FUCKING ANNOYING?!  Why does it keep coiling around me like a snake, and then I try to move it and it turns inside the left earcup making a grating noise and it makes me scared I broke something, but oh my god, everything about this headphone is perfect except this cable.

 

I guess what I'm trying to say is:  How do I tame this cable short of replacing the entire thing?

Straighten the cable to make sure it's not turned or twisted. One way to do it is to let it hang and untwist itself. Then make a fold in the excess length in the middle, and tie it with a rubber band or something, leaving just the correct length needed + a little slack.
