1. Budget & Location
I would start at 600 dollars but as time goes on upgrade.

I live in NS, Canada. so CAD

2. Aim
To be used for Programming, Gaming, Audio projects, and Video rendering at 1080p as well as video recording. plus the usual work and web browsing.

Games include:

Source engine Games:

CS:GO

CS:S

DOTA

L4D2

and

games like

KSP

Minecraft

Arma 2 and 3

amnesia

Fallout New Vegas

Skyrim

A upgradable PC is desired.

3. Monitors
Start with 1 monitor but eventually buy a second both at 1080p
4. Peripherals
Headphone suggestions would be appreciated as I currently only have earbuds(my turtlebeach Earforce X12's broke and would love a higher quality pair anyway)

5. Why are you upgrading?
I currently have a pre-built pc which i have upgraded so i can still use it with modern games and software but it cant handle so many things now days, it constantly crashes.

I program and game lots plus i love experimenting.

if you want to know its a Hewlett Packard a6040n desktop PC.

Upgraded to 4 gigs of ram.(even if it can only use 3.5)
Has a amd graphics card 6570.
Diamond Multimedia AMD Radeon HD 6570 2GB GDDR3 PCIE VGA

I was hoping to get some help building a computer as I havent built a pc i have studied things for months and studied my old pc's and switched around their parts installed operating systems and troubleshoot them as well as countless others at my school, but i havent built one yet. A large pc is fine. I just need some suggestions.

I have 150 mbps download and 30mbps upload so gigabit ethernet is also a must even though as far as i know those are a standard now.

oh and my current PC averages in most games 20-30fps. so Im not bothered by framerates lower than 60 or 30 it used to be between 6 and 11 when i didnt have the graphics card(which i got a year ago).

here is my current pc's specs just add 2gigs ram and that graphics card i stated above.

Man, 600 CAD is hard to work with. I'll take a jab at it on PCPartPicker.com.

"To be used for Programming, Gaming, Audio projects, and Video rendering at 1080p as well as video recording" is the tough part... as this really rules out the best budget CPU for gaming... the Pentium.

CPU: Intel i5-4690k                                                               RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengance Pro DDR3-2400                                                                     Case: NZXT S340

Yes it utterly sucks but when your a teenager what can you do. and i hope for upgradable so that as i get more money i can improve performance and such.

here is one of the builds i tried on pcpartpicker:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/kBYR6h

although its over 600 around 600 hundred is what i mean. well anything is better than my 1.86ghz core 2 duo since i have experience i can somewhat deal with slowness when it comes to rendering as long as its better than my current,

here is my current pc's specs just add 2gigs ram and that graphics card i stated above.

This is just my quick jab at this:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/29mNjX

I hope you didn't expect a monitor and other peripherals in this 600 CAD price bracket??

As for headphones, Sennheiser HD518's and up are a good choice. Audio Technica's "ATH-AD" line is good as well.

I actually noticed a problem with the PSU... it would not allow easy GPU upgrades in the future as it only had one 6+2-pin PCI-E. I fixed it and the motherboard and updated the link above.

Here is the new one to save you some time: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/29mNjX

Hey FX-6300, 8GB of Dual Channel DDR3 1600mhz, 1TB HDD @ 7200RPM & 64MB Cache, GTX 750ti for decent High-Setting 1080p gaming, a basic case and a "good enough" PSU. Really not bad for the price.

That's only a 473 USD build by the way. Kick ass.

I used the Canadian site to build it... hey, .47 over your budget is not bad. I squeezed all I could out of it.
