LED wiring

Go to solution Solved by Theguywhobea,

Red and black should probably be the power and ground wires, but the LED's might run off 12v and not work with the 5v that USB supplies, before I plugged it into my computer I'd try it out with a cell phone wall wart or something that has USB power for it.

Hey guys, I would like to setup a led strip into my PC with USB. I found an old led strip but I doesn't have USB, so my question is which cable I have to connect to the USB

The led has a green, red, blue and black cable

And my USB (that I found somewhere in my house) has a white, red, black and green cable

So which one do I have to connect to get a LED strip with USB?

This was an item Linus featured on a recent video they're LED strips but are rated for 5V operation using USB.

The LED strip you has has 4 leads which is most likely theses days going to be and SMD 5050 LED strip most of those run at 12V and will require a minimum voltage of 6-7V to start but be very dim. The one from amazon is unique since it's designed for 5V operation and not the usual 12V
