I'm planning to buy a crucial PC3 12800 4GB 1600 MHz non ECC ram stick because I have two ram sticks in my system that are not matching and I want it to work in dual channel. What will be the performance difference and was just wondering, will it still work in dual channel if I put two identical sticks in the same coloured slots and one in another slot?

yeh it will still work but you should consult your motherboard manual to see which dim slots have the fastest speed
